Chiefly correspondence, 1914-1985, of Archibald Gerard Robertson concerning the Richmond (Va.) Civil War Roundtable, the publication of books on the Robertson and Farish families, and as an attorney. Also, include a scrapbook, 1923-1963, concerning law cases; speeches, 1948-1957, concerning Hunter Holmes McGuire, Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, Va., public school segregation in Virginia, annexation law in Virginia, Archibald Stuart, and charters of the Virginia Company; memoirs, 1917-1918, concerning service in the U.S. Army in France during World War I; copyrights, 1964-1967, issued to Robertson and his cousin Ben Robertson Miller for The Robertson Family of Culpeper County, Virginia and The Farish Family of Virginia and its Forebears by John Frederick Dorman; and miscellaneous materials, 1908-1964, including a diploma issued by Woodberry Forest School, license to practice law in North Carolina, and membership certificates in the Delta Chi fraternity and Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia. Also, include autobiography, 1765-1846, of Norvell Robertson concerning his early life in Buckingham County, Va., his service in the Virginia militia during the Revolution, and his experiences as a planter, blacksmith, miller, and Baptist minister in Georgia and Mississippi. Also, include essays and lines of verse written by Margaret Briscoe (Stuart) Robertson; correspondence, 1960-1974, of James Ambler Johnston concerning the Richmond Civil War Roundtable; speeches and articles, 1881-1974, of Edwin Cox, Ben Robertson Miller, Cooper Kirby Ragan, Alexander Farish Robertson, Luther Sobers and Alexander Hugh Holmes; and genealogical notes concerning the Baldwin, Briscoe, Farish, Piper, Robertson, Rogers, Stuart, and Williams families.
